Favorite WOD?
“Nancy”- In my first SoCal Qualifier, we had to do 90 overhead squats which killed me. Since then, I’ve told myself that I will not let them defeat me…I look forward to them now. Also, I really like Coach Nancy
Least Favorite WOD?
“Fight Gone Bad”- I always end up sick.
Time CrossFitting?
I started at my fire station in 2007, then moved into the park, then moved into a garage and now, 3 years later I’ve been able to move my members into a beautiful 7000sqft training facility.
What is CrossFit?
Life Changing…Oh…and “constantly varied, functional movement, done at high intensity”! But if you ask anyone that has been doing CrossFit for more than 3 months, they’ll say the same thing “LIFE CHANGING”!
Workout Music of Choice?
Really depends on the mood I’m in. But usually something with a beat. But as soon as I’m done with the workout, I can’t stand the music being loud. Don’t ask me why.

Favorite WOD?
To tell you the truth, I love them all. Some are great and some are humbling. I need them both, because it only makes me stronger.
Least Favorite WOD?
“Eva”- is a whole lot of “holy hell”! I don’t like doing it or coaching it, it’s brutal to watch.
Time CrossFitting?
Does doing it in your backyard, while my husband is yelling at me to get closer to the stucco wall because my squats suck, count? I started dabbling in it right before we decided to start our own CrossFit Box in November of 2008.
What is CrossFit?
It’s a cult of good looking guys working out with thier shirts off, the girls wearing spandex shorts with knee high socks, and everyone having a good ole’ time. j/k!
Workout Music of Choice?
A little bit of Hip-Hop.
Qualifications
Certified CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
Certified CrossFit Olympic Lifting Trainer
Certified CrossFit Kids Trainer
Nancy Higson
Favorite WOD?
I really enjoy team WODs and anything with push-ups, running, dumbbell snatch or thrusters. I also like “Nancy” because my name is Nancy.
Least Favorite WOD?
“Karen”- and anything with wallballs or heavy deadlifts. Also, I think pull ups are lame.
Time CrossFitting?
I started at CrossFitRC June of 2009 and nothing has ever been the same since.
What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a whole bunch of wonderful. It is a community that encourages you to exercise hard, eat healthy, try new things, be courageous, and put your whole heart into everything you do inside and outside the gym.

Favorite WOD?
“Annie” and “Grace”- because I love doubleunders and moving large loads, long distances, real fast.
Least Favorite WOD?
“Cindy”- Push-ups, pull-ups and Erin aren’t “three of a kind”.
Time CrossFitting?
I started at CrossFitRC September 2009. I saw results right away and have been a believer from the start. I got my level 1 cert in May of 2010 and have enjoyed sharing my passion with my CrossFitRC family.
What is CrossFit?
Soccer has always been my life until various knee surgeries. CrossFit has become my new passion that takes the place of what soccer did for my life. It is competitive, fun, and very humbling. Everyday, I am challenged and pushed mentally, physically and emotionally. It’s like that morning cup of coffee…you wake up looking forward to it and everyday it tastes just as good as the day before.
Workout Music of Choice?
Upbeat rap and hip-hop during the day and country for those late night training sessions with Nancy.
Qualifications
Certified CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
Certified CrossFit Gymnastics Trainer
Bachelors Degree Liberal Studies PE Emphasis/Minor Kinesiology from Azusa Pacific Univ.
Single Subject Credential in Kinesiology and Adapted Physical Education

Sean Hester
Sean Hester didn’t answer any of these dumb questions, because Sean Hester answers to no one!
Ron Daily
Favorite WOD?
Anything with “heavier” barbell movements (i.e. elizabeth, grace).
Least Favorite WOD?
Longer stuff that is exclusively gymnastics (i.e. cindy)…also, running sucks…;).
Time CrossFitting?
Joined a CrossFit gym in jan 2007, but had been “messing around with CF” for about 6 months prior.
What is CrossFit?
I could give u the “constantly varied…blah blah blah”….but i constantly tell people that it is, “pain for time”…=)…and “you will look way better when you are naked.”
Workout Music of Choice?
Depends on WOD… Metcon: something fast….pantera or something like that. Weightlifting/ powerlifting: something kinda mellow (country, etc).
Qualifications
Certified CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
Certified CrossFit Basic Barbell Trainer
Certified CrossFit Endurance Trainer
Certified CrossFit Powerlifting Trainer
P.O.S.T. certified P.T. Instructor
Bachelors of science degree in exercise science
Mike Varnum
Favorite WOD?
I’m a big fan of “Nancy” because I like overhead squats….and Coach Nancy is my favorite Coach. However, I like really long WODs too. So I choose “Eva”. It takes a longgggggg time complete, but you really feel a sense of accomplishment when you finish.
Least Favorite WOD?
That’s easy, “Karen”. The wallball and I do not get along.
Time CrossFitting?
I’ve been CrossFitting for about a year. Before that I worked out at a Globo gym for two and a half years. I went six days a week for 2 hours a day with minimal results. After four months of CrossFitting and eating better I lost 35 pounds. All while increasing my endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. Man I sound like an infomercial. I’ll stop now.
What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is intense, challenging and humbling. It’s feeling uncomfortable for long periods of time and pushing yourself to new levels. It’s everything you’re not allowed to do at a regular gym. It’s dropping your weights, leaving puddles of sweat on the floor and making a mess with chalk. It’s also inspiring and fun. A place where friendships are made and cheering them on is mandatory. CrossFit is the place to be!
Workout Music of Choice?
I like loud anything. The louder the better.
Qualifications
Trevor Stevenson
Favorite WOD?
“Nate” 20 minute AMRAP of 2 muscle ups, 4 handstand pushups, 8 2 pood kettlebell swings.
Least Favorite WOD?
Any WOD with double unders.
Time CrossFitting?
I started crossfitting at CrossFit RC in November 2010. Before that, I never lifted any weights and would only run, bike, and swim.
What is CrossFit?
Its a fun, competitive way to stay in great shape and be around supportive people, getting the results you’ve always wanted. It makes you strive to be disciplined with your training and diet in order to cross the bridge between your goals and accomplishments.
Workout Music of Choice?
Anything that gets my fist pumping and Dubstep.
Qualifications
Certified CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
Certified CrossFit Olympic Lifting Trainer
Associates degree in Administration of Justice
Dave Andreiko
Favorite WOD?
I don’t really have a “favorite.” I tend to like the WODs with body weight movements and running.
Least Favorite WOD?
“Gator” Front squats are my enemy!
Time CrossFitting?
I started doing “CrossFit style” workouts at work a couple years before I knew CrossFit even existed. Once I discovered crossfit, I immediately knew I would love it. I officially started crossfitting February 2010, at CFRC.
What is CrossFit?
It’s a community of like-minded people with the same goals in mind. People who CrossFit are a breed all they’re own. CrossFit is a good way to satisfy my competitive drive.
Workout Music of Choice?
It really doesn’t matter to me. As soon as a WOD starts I don’t hear the music at all. I block it out. I don’t like it super loud either, especially when double unders are involved.
Qualifications
Certified CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
Certified CrossFit Olympic Lifting Trainer
BA Economics
Erik Fay
Favorite WOD?
Ryan -I really like gymnastic movements and WODs that get my heart pumping.
Least Favorite WOD?
Barbara – There is a reason it is also called Barfra. I hate it.
Time CrossFitting?
I lurked around the mainsite when I was in undergrad but did not really get into it until I moved to CA in August of 2009. Been hooked ever since.
What is CrossFit?
Life altering. I never though something like Crossfit would alter my life (for the better) like it has. It has helped form new incredible friendships, become incredibly aware about what I do with and put into my body and push my physical limits beyond what I though was possible.
Workout Music of Choice?
I most of the time like something aggressive sounding but have time where I like to listen to Journey……Don’t judge me.
Qualifications
Certified CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
Certified CrossFit Endurance Trainer
Certified CrossFit Nutrition Trainer
Certified CrossFit Goal Setting Trainer
Bachelors Molecular Biology and Microbiology, Masters Molecular Medicine, future Doctor.
Nicholas Cadogan
Favorite WOD?
“Annie” 50-40-30-20-10 sit-ups and double-unders. I love any WOD that works on your core.
Least Favorite WOD?
“Grace” or any workout like it with a lot of heavy weight movements
Time CrossFitting?
I have been CrossFitting since March 2010. At that time I was doing the 5-day a week, globo-gym workouts focusing on legs one day, arms the next, and so on. Coming from a background of soccer, track and cross-country, the lack of results I was getting was disappointing. Not to mention, I was extremely bored with my gym routine. I found the CrossFit flyer at the Chronic Tacos and came in to do a free intro class and was hooked instantly. CrossFit gave just what I had been looking for. Real workouts with real results and a little healthy competition to make it fun and motivating at the same time. Since then I have pretty much been CrossFitting about 5-6 days a week and have seen myself go from 185 lbs. to 155lbs. and from 14% body fat to 6.5% body fat. Oh and my abs, well they look like the abs I had back in high school all thanks to all of Erin’s diet and Paleo challenges!
What is CrossFit?
A darn good time
